    Short Description of My Current Work
    The vision of Search Institute (SI) is to create a world where young people are valued and thrive. My role is lead applied learning projects with a particular emphasis on youth engagement, program development and improvement and organizational transformation and strengthening leadership.

    We believe this is possible by partnering with others who want to do the same and service-learning is part of my own history and the history of SI.

    Professional History
    Inspired to Serve staff - responsible for developing and piloting a technical assistance and capacity building for a youth-led interfaith service-learning initiative in four major US cities.

    Young Adult Civic Engagement national director - supported the development of community-based civic leadership and service-learning models for 18-29 year olds in the YMCA network around the world.

    YMCA Earth Service Corps national director - spread a school- CBO environmental service-learning model from 28 communities to over 175 communities including an increase in communities of color from 18% to 53%.

    Senior Program Director - supported college students in running service-learning and leadership programs focused on eliminating urban poverty, strengthen youth development and education and eradicating racism.

    - asset-based human development and change;
    - working with intergenerational groups and blending theory and wisdom from the grassroots;
    - intersection of youth and community development.


    What I'm Most Excited About in My Current Work
    I love learning and facilitating learning that strengthens individual confidence and competence including my own. I am currently learning lots about the power of interfaith work and service-learning as a vehicle for talking about shared values and ones' role in community life.

    I am also very interested in paying attention to how service exists and is named across cultures and how to balance the professionalization of service-learning field with how this would resonate with my great-grandfather who might scratch his head thinking such thing needed to be taught and people need to be hired with this as a focus.
